Using the third wave of the Korean Retirement and Income Study(KReIS), I compared a composition of income and consumption between poor household and nonpoor household. Furthermore, I categorized the elderly households according to their consumption pattern, and analyzed the factors influencing the group which is divided by their consumption pattern. The results of the study are as followed: first, poor household¡¯s transfer income is higher than nonpoor household, and their market income is lower than nonpoor household. Furthermore, poor household¡¯s consume food expenses, light and heat expenses more than nonpoor household. Second, the consumption pattern is divided by group of medical expenses, housing expenses, basic living expenses, relationship expenses. Especially, group of housing expenses has very vulnerable character, they will probably a target of social welfare policy. And a medical expenses are high almost every elderly households, so it is needed to expand a medical security to elderly.
